He was immediately absorbed to the Finance Team in the University
where he held various responsible positions. During his eight year's
stay, he demonstrated to be a self starter with strong planning,
controlling, organizing and leadership skills with accounting responsibility
for USD110 million in operations. Record for rapid progression from
accounting staff to executive level management position, he is skilled
in researching, analyzing and evaluating a broad range of financial
information to formulate and produce accurate forecasts, financial
reports and make recommendations for sound policy decisions. Prior
to his departure to Sri Lanka he held the position as Assistant
Vice President for Budget & Financial Analysis.
In the year 1997 he assumed duties at Watawala Plantations
Limited (WPL) as its' Chief Executive Officer which owns 22 estates
in Tea, Rubber and Oil Palm. WPL is the only Plantation
Company in Sri Lanka which managers tea estates in all three elevations;
Low, Medium and High Grown. WPL also owns the only Oil Palm Processing
Plant in Sri Lanka.
Mr. Vish Govindasamy holds key positions in Plantation
related organisations such as the Planters' Association of Ceylon
where he is the Chairman/President of the Media Committee and the
Vice Chairman of the Employers' Federation of Ceylon for the Plantation
Sector . Mr. Govindasamy is the group managing director
of Sunshine group which controls Swiss Biogenics, Watawala Plantations,
Sunshine packing and is also on the board of Taj Asia. As WPL's
CEO Mr. Govindasamy has been closely associated with various International
Plantations / Tea Companies and traveled extensively around the
World to raise its' profile in various global forums in the UK,
New Zealand, Russia, Middle-East, Malaysia, Hong Kong, India.
